Pro Skates
This project was really an architectural recovery mission, more than retail design. The owner had purchased a building that most considered an eyesore, knowing there was something special waiting to be reborn. With a retail tenant lined up, we set to work to uncover the raw beauty of this early 20th century commercial structure. The gem proved to be the heavy timber trusses which spanned the patchwork brick walls, which were hidden by drop ceilings. The next step was to replace the facade of the building with glazing so that beautiful structure could be seen from outside.
The retailer that would become tenant #1 was a veteran skate + snowboard shop established over 20 years prior. This location would become their flagship, so of course needed to include a skateboard ramp in-store! 15 years later, they are still going strong.
